How to Safely Move managerView Databases?
In order to safely move existing managerView databases to another DBMS, you may follow the next steps:
- Make sure that no one is using the managerView system, nor are cube processing activities in progress.
- Stop the managerView Analysis Engine service.
- Back up the managerView relational (AEDB and/or AEStage) and/or OLAP (AEOLAP) databases. You may use SQL Server Management Studio to accomplish the operation.
- Restore the created backup(s) on the compatible instance(s) of MS SQL Server DBMS.
For example, if you installed the AEOLAP database on SQL Server 2008, you are supposed to move the database to SQL Server 2008/2008 R2 DBMS. Provided the AEDB database turned out to be amongst the moved managerView databases, you should
- Connect to the AEOLAP database, using SQL Server Management Studio or Business Intelligence Development Studio.
- Open the data source and specify the new location of the AEDB database in the Connection String property. If you are not using Integrated Security in the connection string, then you should explicitly type and save SQL user credentials to access the AEDB database.
- If you are using the managerView Authorization Checker feature, then you should also create the Execute LoginInfo role in the master database, residing on the DBMS server, where you moved the AEDB database. Refer to the managerView documentation for more information about the Authorization Checker enhancement.
- Run the managerView Configuration Utility (managerViewConfig.exe) on every server, where you installed managerView components. Visiting the Relational Database, Staging Database, and OLAP Database tabs specify the new location of the moved managerView databases.
- Recycle the managerViewAppPool IIS's application pool on the servers, where you installed themanagerView Server Administration and managerView Integration Service web applications.
- Open the managerView Server Administration portal, navigate to the Management > About managerView Server page to make sure that the managerView databases were successfully moved.
- Start the managerView Analysis Engine service.
