Email service to use for workflow scripts?

I want to write some custom workflow scripts that send emails. What email service does the Execute360 email workstep use, and can that be used for this purpose?

The Execute360 Email integration worksteps use MailBee objects for SMTP and MAPI services. However, this is licensed software and cannot be used for custom scripts.

To write workflow scripts with email features you can look into using other email services, such as CDO or MailBee with your own license key.
