Cannot delete content in STAGING

I cannot clean the STAGING in my branch. I tried with overide option as well. There are some ontents which are not in the workarea. but they are availabe in the STAGING. Help me on this.

If you want to delete something from your STAGING first of all you need to delete it from your workarea and then submit it.

Remember that STAGING is a read only area hence you won't be able to delete anything directly there...

In case, you run 'Get Latest' on one of the workarea or execute 'iwupdate' CLT to get all the files available on STAGING. Then only, delete and submit the files which you need to remove from STAGING.

Please perform iwsubmit from backend on the particular file. This will resolve your issue.

I got latest content from STAGING to Workarea , run iwsubmit commnad from backend. niether worked. There are lots of contents in Staging than workarea. Still couldnt clean the staging.

I created a workarea in same branch and got everything in Staging to workarea. then tried to delete. That didnt work either.

How are you trying your submit ? commandline or via the GUI ? If it is via GUI then it may be stuck in the submit process, you can tell it to override. Via commandline (iwsubmit, you can use the override flag)

That being said, if you deleted folders that had files that were locked, these will hang and are harder than cockroaches to get rid of.

One approach, get latest (at a folder level, with overwrite on), remove all locks, delete files, submit, when the files are submitted, then remove the folder and submit it.

If that fails you may have stale locks. There is a well known script you can get from support to help with it.

It sound like you are better off renaming the branch and creating a new one, assuming you want to COMPLETELY clean out the staging area.

But note, this will also remove all version/edition history.

This happens quite often with STAGING area and the good way is to remove the stalelocks on all the content items in STAGING area and then try to re submit it.
