Opening xml output file in content center for editing

Hi,
We have a requirement where the xml output should also be available to edit the same way as html/shtml..But When we open output xml in view mode I get a message at the top saying
"File test.xml of type text/xml cannot be displayed in the browser window. You can download the file to your local system, or you can perform any of the standard VisualPreview actions using the toolbar.

And we also get the visual preview toolbar at the bottom.. but when we click on the Download link the xml appears and the visual preview toolbar disappears.. Can anyone help me out with this? Is it possible that the xml also is available to edit the same way as html where the content appears with visual preview toolbar and on click of edit the dcr opens.

No, it is not possible.

Visual Preview Bar is *injected* into rendered HTML in the form of Java Script. Obviously you can not do that for the Files
of non-html format. (To be more precise, for the ASCII Files you formally could. It is useless though since your Browser would
not know what to do with all that JS anyway).

If that's acceptable you can certainly modify "iwproxy_smartcontextedit_allowed" settings to render XML via Browser without
SCE Bar. Your contributors then may use various "Edit" controls if they really want to get to XML's DCR Source.

Alternatively you may perhaps generate HTML/XML pair from the same DCR where additional HTML File "masquerades" as XML,
possibly using (one of the) available "escape html" mechanisms. You would have to code though for that in any other respect
useless HTML Components and teach your Contributors to use HTML extension, etc...
