alot ofmodified files but they are not modified

hello,

i noticed something in our teamsite. i did an import of a single file (image). and when i looked at the modified files in the workarea, it showed way too many modifed images than i expected... all the modified files have the same properties and no differences at all compared to the ones in staging. and in both locations the files have modified date of 12/20/2006 11AM... but the ones that is appreaing in a workarea as modified has version 2+ and the one in staging has a version 2.

i know that none of the developers touched those files, so i am trying to think what could trigger those files to be marked as modified? has anybody seen this before?
this is on TS 6.5 SP3 on windows 2k3.

will this happen if the virus checker runs on both Y drive and iw-store? or can i stop it if i make the virus checker run on iw-store online?

this is kind of a problem, because i m sure nobody wants to have huge of unmodified files apear like they were modified.

virus checking - and backup software can do this - on Windows. The latter tends to touch the 'archive' bit on files unless configured not to do so - and that will result in modified files.

Also - as per the manual, I don't believe you should run virus checking or backup of the Y: drive - only the backing store -- but feel free to read the manuals and/or KB articles to verify.
