Default / Opening Window Width on Reports

I have created a few landscape reports -- one quite wide, but one in common paper size.

However, when the viewer opens, it is too narrow. I have been unable to figure out which settings to change to make the window open bigger.

The attachment shows how it is opening (left side) verses the width I'd prefer it to open as (right side).

I suspect an edit to the XML files may be in order as changing any of the other values via the properties isn't working.

The report in question is intended for standard US "letter" size paper in landscape format, or 9 inch display excluding margins.

I have been experiencing this issue for a while now. I was issued a defect (#DEF19183) in december 2011, but I haven't heard of any timing on a fix.

We find if you redeploy (and keep redeploying) you can win the lucky door prize and occasionally it will render correctly again.

"Lucky door prize" ... eww.

Makes you wonder if it finally goes right, that it won't suddenly go wrong again.

I've depoloyed several times tweaking other aspects of the report and trying different settings for this to no avail thus far. Gotta wonder how I can sell my users on "it might eventually work".

I raised a formal ticket since little response here. I got the following response on 10 Jan:

This is a known issue (Ref #DEF19183) and currently work in progress for issue fix to be released but there is no release date decided yet.

Hi Brian/Bill,

Until the defect is addressed, you can exploit the undocumented AJAX API and call the internal resize function as a workaround.

Try putting the following in the client side "onload" event on your landscape report.

Bpm.UI.BaseFormContainer.get_instanceFromParent().resizeFormSafe(1000,600);

Disclaimer: Any time you use the AJAX library directly, be aware that the API is subject to change.

I also confirm this work-around works. Thanks for the idea until it gets fixed properly.

The form will not load for me when using:

Bpm.UI.BaseFormContainer.get_instanceFromParent().resizeFormSafe(1000,600);

in the on load client scripts. Does anyone know of another way to resolve this?
