Preview error

Hi All,

Thanks in advance. I am trying to preview a DCR and getting the following error. The templatedata directory exists. Can anyone help me in solving this issue? The interesting part is the TeamSite is not giving the same error for local user, only the domain user is getting this error.

Is this on windows?This is clearly a permission related error.check the permissions on your Y: drive folders.I had similar issues before and setting the right permissions resolved it.

Thanks for th ereply. Yes TS is on Windows. What type of permission issue? I created a group and the group has one local user and one domain user. This group is assigned to the branch. So everybody in that group will have same permissions on that branch, right? Can you please let me know clearly what permissions I need to check?

looks like the domain\user information is not passed back correctly to teamsite.

are the domians specified correctly in iw.cfg? like:
[iwcgi]
domain_list=domainA,domainB

[iwserver]
domain_list=domainA,domainB

to debug. (in iw.cfg)
In the [iwserver] section , add the following lines:
show_user_list=true
show_user_list_verbose=true

and do a reset
now check iwtrace.log

Considering you are using local groups:
Something like this means that user information is passed back to the server corrrectly.

[Mon Sep 10 22:44:46 2007] GROUPS: [ myserver\myLocalGroup myserver\myLocalGroup2 ]

Not Okay:

[Mon Sep 10 22:44:46 2007] USER: domainB\userX

In this case there could be something wrong with the trust between your server and the domain.

I'm no domain expert so I'm not sure what you need to check between the server and the domain permissions. But as you are able to add domain users to the local groups, there might be someting wrong with the domain permissions the other way around.

I checked the domainlist in iw.cfg. The domain is specified correctly.

The permissions on the templatedata are fine. The domain users are able to access until the DCR level and are able to edit the DCR. The issue occurs only while previewing.

OK, check the templating.cfg file, there should be a preview dir defined for that template. Check the permissions on that.

Also, with windows explorer, look at the preview dir, there are likely a bunch of files called zz_

see if any of those have the domain user name.

BTW, are the domain users names the same as the local names ? That *could* cause an issue. If this is the case, then remove the zz_ files and see if they can preview.

Finally, what is the parameter in iw.cfg for preview_history_limit set to ?

Also, does the TSIMP_server user have write access to this workarea ?

from the rest of the tread I can make out that the domain user has access to the folders already indicating tha groups for the domain user are past to TS but if you are still currious:

to debug domain user groups: (in iw.cfg)

In the [iwserver] section , add the following lines:

Jenni,

I ran into a similar issue recently. What is the preview-dir, you are using in templating.cfg. Does the local user have sufficient access to the preview-dir? Paste your data type configuration in templating.cfg to the post. Is the local user able to generate?

If the above does not seem to be the issue, check your PT code thoroughly. Maybe use the -ocode option with iwpt_compile and get an ipl of your pt. Then login as local user compile with iwperl. See if you are getting any errors or warning.

Also, login as domain user and repeat the process. See the differences.
