Admin Form as an IFRAME in a action form

Hi,

The major requirement was to Load a form in an action dynamically based on some variable.

But this seems not possible in Metastorm yet. So tried creating different admin forms and load it in Action form as an iFRAME

I am trying to use Admin form as an Iframe(using a label field) in action form.

Iframe Src attribute is set on Action Form page load.

The admin form seems to load fine. But when I click any button that resides in an Admin form. It is not performing any operation. I simply tried WriteToLog on button click which also is not working.

Had you ever come across such issue, pls help!

You could use chained actions instead. Have "n" chained actions for "n" such forms, and then in the previous action set the "Chained action name" based on your variable. Thats a more process friendly way to do things - and supported.

Hi Prax,

Thought of that earlier, but there could be hundreds of forms that are dynamic. Having that many actions would be not that efficient. Also for every additional form to add, an additional action will also be needed.

So thought to have admin forms make it visible in nornal action form. But have stuck in this issue.

The problem with using admin forms is you lose the basic process binding received through using a process flow. Instead you end up with disjoint entities like admin forms which isn't directly tied to your process flow.

In any case, one way you could do this instead of iframe is to use status fields. They allow you to drilldown to admin forms or even new processes (opens in a new window), and pass variables to them.

I'd suggest spawning processes instead of admin forms at this point, but if you do end up doing admin forms ast I'd suggest passing your parent's folderID to the admin form and logging it there, so there's some form of relationship maintained.

PS - The status fields send parameters as a URL string, so make sure you're not passing any secure information or it may be hack-prone
