Open Text Widgets Not Loading in IE 11

Hello! I originally created a ticket for this, but was referred to the forum instead. So, here I am!

My colleagues and I are unable to load Open Text widgets via IE 11. They do however, work in Firefox and Chrome. The widgets being used are the Open Text module widgets and the function we want is to integrate SAP WDA into the Open Text widgets using the Webdynpro environment.

Our Desktop Engineer verified that Java and Active X are enabled on all images and in my troubleshooting, I disabled IE's protected mode and added the site to the compatibility list, but that did not make a difference. Due to group policy restraints, I am unable to add the URL to the list of trusted sites to see if that works.

Here is the dialog at the top of the page (whether the widgets load or not):

"This is a SAP Webdynpro App showing the OpenText Widget Control
The Widget is inside a WDA IFrame that calls SAP BSP Page"

There error in the IE11 console is "Object doesn't support property or method 'addEventListener'"

File: jquery-2.1.1.min.js, Line: 946, Column: 9

This is the line it's referencing.

Thanks for the information! CS UI Widgets bundle jQuery 1.x internally. I guess that the error comes from other integration you have on the page.

The addEventListener method has been introduced in IE9. If IE11 complains that the method does not exist, it means that it runs in the Compatibility View mode, which means degraded to IE7. The CS UI Widgets support IE8 or newer, IE10 or newer is recommended for the optimal performance.

Could you disable the IE Compatiility View and test again how it works, please?

I did that early on in my troubleshooting before I submitted a ticket and the widget did not load either way. However I checked the console again more thoroughly this time and I think I may know WHY now. I saw the following message:

"HTML1203: nx.com has been configured to run in Compatibility View through Group Policy."

So even though I disabled it manually, it appears that GP is running the domain in Compatibility View anyway.

Does that happen often? Thanks for your help thus far!

We had to install and configure some SAP updates, so that the server stopped forcing the compatibility view. We didn't test with the GP configuration. We made both BSP and WebdynPro pages contain the meta-tag with the IE version set to "Edge".

Looking at the configuration priorities of the meta tag, response header, GP and local configuration - if the SAP response says that it should be "Edge", the GP configuration should "lose".

If you could put some javascript check on your page to make sure that the system has been configured correctly.

Just to clarify, did you update the logic that is invoking the Open Text widgets or do an update based the SAP OSS notes?

Well, I did not work on the SAP integration myself, but we didn't code anything extra in the Widgets. My colleague used the official OSS notes to update the SAP browser support independently.
