DCT - Invalid category/type null was received.

Hi All,

I am getting 'Save was unsuccessful. Invalid category/type null was received.' when I try to Edit and save a DCR.

I have a textarea field in my DCT that can take more than 2000 characters. These characters could be a long Java Script, JSP or ASP.

When I test this with fewer characters, I do not get any error, but when I test this with larger JSP code, I get the above error.

I am attaching the DCT and JavaScript, please help me troubleshooting the above issue.

Try to debug the problem under following circumstances.

1. Is it because of size? If yes, then for how many characters it works? (for example – it works well with 1200 characters but gives problem when I add 1201st character)
2. Is it because of some special character? It might be possible that any particular character is causing the issue?
3. Is it because of the DCT? Try to use same text with any other DCT. Check if it works well there.

I did not face any problems with your special charaters in the code you posted. So it should be the length which is messing up your DCR.

Genrally, this error is caused with the use of a special character in the DCR Name itself.. Length of input to the textarea should not matter...

I am able to over come the issue reported.

I resolved it, by making the valLength to String and then setting the value.

valLen = valLength.toString();
IWDatacapture.getItem("/COMMON_SCRIPTS/VALUE_LENGTH").setValue(valLen);
