Teamsite to edit Sharepoint web pages?

We are implementing Sharepoint and i'm trying to figure out if it makes sense for us to use Teamsite templating to edit Sharepoint web pages? Does that even make sense?

I haven't done a ton in sharepoint.. but in what way are you editing them, and what kind of user group would be doing the editing?

Would you be pulling up the page to edit in a text editor, or in something like Microsoft SharePoint Designer? In a text editor is not really useful for people with a non-technical background, but if non-technical users had SharePoint Designer (or such) installed on their local machines, it should be pretty simple.

are you talking SharePoint Portal 2007 or SharePoint Services (and which version wss 2.0 or wss 3.0)?

If you're using SharePoint Portal have you tried using the built in CMS that comes with it?

As far as SharePoint Services I would think the biggest hurdle would be security related I think, but could be possible.
