Number paragraphs in a single token

I have a single token that will contain BR separated paragraphs. need them to be numbered so that they look indented like the paragraphs shown in black below but instead they look like paragraphs shown in red below. Please see the indentation difference. How do we achieve the indentation of paragraph in black? NOTE: the number of paragraphs is not constant and will change from time to time.
