adding a user

TS 6.7.1. I am down a simple basic question. Assuming that you have a Group called Group1 and a branch to which Group1 has full permissions. I am introducing a newuser say User5, i add this user to the group and so he will induce the priveleges which are bestowed by the group, hence can edit any DCR which is unlocked in that branch.

But for some cases this seems incorrect, cuz i see edit being grayed out.
Can any one point me out where i am going wrong in welcoming newuser to a group?

Did you add the user to that specific branch (as an editor, author, etc) ?

Yes i did give roles to the user. In fact i made him a master for testing. But still its grayed out.

OK, you do properties on a file in the workarea and on the workarea itself and the group(s) listed are the one you added the user to ?

You don't need iwreset -a, just iwreset without any flags - should cause TeamSite to refresh its information about users and groups.

You should probably enable the debugging feature in iw.cfg to have it dump out its information about users and groups so that you can verify that TeamSite sees it (this was posted about in the forums just recently)

Another thing, although I doubt this is your issue -- when doing development on Windows - if you do a Remote Desktop connection to the server, and then add the user to the group - you need to log out of Remote Desktop and log back in again as Remote Desktop caches the user's credentials - even if TeamSite's information is updated.

Also - along the same lines, has the user tried explicitly logging out and logging back in again (first just from TeamSite, if that doesn't work, from the client system)?

I guess the user might be missing the top credentials like for the branch XYZ the user should have the the xyz group and also the groups related to parent/root branches should also need to be added to it.

Even sometimes if that particular file is locked by any other user in other workarea this situation may happens.

Yes i got this cleared. The stuff was that if we have all files onlocked and have user full access to that particular branch from the top folder , he/she can edit the file. But its kind of stange that edit privelegeas were turned ON after i bounced the box.
