.asp preview

Hello friends,

At the outset, a very happy new year to all.

My questions is, how do I do the configuration for .ASP preview in TeamSite(6.5, SP3, Windows 2003).To be honest, I am not confident about remapping.

Some light on this woulde be really appreciated.

The configuration needs to be on your IIS or whichever webserver you are using and not the TS Server.

Remappings can be done in iw.cfg as per your requirements. If you provide details of your requirement, you can get better advice.

You can certainly configure IIS ContentWeb Service (aka Virtualization Server, TeamSite default port 81) to render asp Pages.

Take a look at this article first. If you want IIS details, check also Configure ASP in the Windows 2003.
I hate to disappoint you but you will need serious amount of Proxy configuration (remapping) for practically any virtualization, asp or otherwise

just a doubt(may be silly one)...when we say preview what exactly does it mean?I mean to say, for eg, let's there is a page home.asp in a workarea.Now when we click home.asp and when it opens up, r we seeing the preview or the real page.

Or preview(according to my understanding) means, when we create a DCR we do a preview of the final page that can be generated before it is actually generated.

Preview (in the context of TeamSite) means "the contents of a web page rendered by the "customer web server" designated in the iw.cfg file. This can be either a static HTML / ASP / etc. page being rendered by the "customer web server" or the contents of a DCR that was processed by a PT stored into a file within the TS VFS and then opened in a browser window associated with the "customer web server".

For some customers, a "custom preview" operation is required which involves page generation and deployment to a different server machine in order to be rendered for [pre]viewing.

TS Vocabulary names what you want to achieve a "Virtualization". In the simple case your goal is to create
and modify "virtual" Site in your branch, ideally a virtual Copy of your Production Site. As such,
the site should demonstrate *standard* navigational behavior, allow your user to open Server-located Files
in the local browser, etc... "Generate" button regenerates and shows freshly modified Page within this virtual
Site, "Preview" does the same only with temporary target File.

Note that this noble goal is rarely achieved 100% percent. CMS for Dynamic Sites, Web Applications and the like
usually require dedicated Virtualization Environment completely outside of TS Host
