Accessing DCT elements from unsaved DCT

Hi,
I have a scenario where I need to access, for example, the value of a textfield (T1) for the callout of an other field(T2).

When the DCR is saved on TeamSite already, I am able to use the FormAPI functions to access a the value of the field (T1). However, when the user is trying to create a DCR for the first time, I am not able to access the field (T1) before saving the DCR.

Is there a way to access the DCT form elements using the DOM structure?

You can access the DCT form elements; however as per your query.. you need to capture the value. The value always gets saved in the DCR; which you dont have in saved state.

However.. i suggest you to use IWDATACAPTURE object in your callout to pick the value of your field (T1)

I thought I tired the same method and it failed. Anyway, now it is working with the IWDataCaputure.getItem() method.
