Hi,

I use TS 6.7.1 on Windows. My requirement is to have a user/group modify files only from a workflow task that they own and not from anywhere else (meaning "Content" tab). Can anyone please shed some light on it ? Thanks in advance.

There is no direct way of doing this and you would need to rely on a lot of coding.
One possible way is to write a cgi which gets called on the save of the DCR. This CGI would check if the DCR is attached to the w/f or not and if it not it would throw an error and not save the DCR.

Do you mean to say that for creating new dcrs should be available through File->New Form Entry and Edit through the workflow only ?

It needs a bit of intellingent coding. You need to encrypt the file in sucha way, that the files attached to job and the person who owned that task can only edit that.

It can be done using a combination of Extended attributes and callserver script, where the called script checks for EA while loading of the DCR.

It's an interesting challenge - not sure it's reasonable though. You definitely need more detailed information about the requirements - what they do / don't mean, etc. before a real solution could be designed, but based on what little is provided so far:

OK, to follow up on a number of posts, talk to your business user and get the requirements changed. This possibly can be done. However, life is full of unintended consequences and an attempt of this would certainly show off many of them.

If I had to do this, then most likely I am using the incorrect tool. But if pressed, I would write a trigger that runs on the modification of a filesystem asset. If that asset is not in a specific workflow, then I would revert the changes. This does not specifically prevent it but changes are lost immediately.
