Permission Problems

Hi,
We have moved one store from our production to our staging different server. The DCR's cannot be edited after this. Even if i try to access the physical files, it gives the Access is Denied error.

Is there any way we can restore access ?

Any help is much appreciated.

Could be a lot of things. Hard to tell right now.

What are the permissions on the files ? Were they locally owned (server\me) or domain ? You may need to idmap the logins. What OS ?

Can root/administrator access them ?

Is the backingstore locked ?

If this is on Windows - you probably need to go through the process of using iwidmap to fix the mapping of users and groups that were associated with the old server to be consistent with the new server.

On Unix this may also be needed, but usually not.

With this can i ask you one question. Will windows permisions override the teamsite permissions ?

for eg.:- if i give branch access to a group and i give a different access rights from the backend, ie Y:\ Which will override the other ?

Access rights are a combination of factors - TS access generally controls access to the branch and workarea, file system access generally controls access to the files and directories within the workarea (it gets a bit more confusing when dealing with TS users who have Master access)

TeamSite allows Master users to have access where they might not otherwise have access via the file system access rights (e.g. to view the contents of branches, workareas, and folders, and perhaps files)

The 'Master' access right in TS is similar to 'root' (Unix) or 'Administrator' (Windows) access rights at the OS level.
