user edit problems

I have a user who clicks on the edit link and gets a screen stating that the file is downloading. The file never opens and the user is stuck with that screen. On the same computer, using the same browser, another user with the same permissions is able to not only download the file but edit and save it.

I have removed and then added the user back - the problem remains.

The user is set up at as a author (the settings that came with TS) and has full control of the files being accessed.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I am assuming users are on Win XP.

Does the second user also login as himself on the win XP workstation?

Did you try clearing the browsers cache? Is the first user able to download and save the file from another workstation?

Users are on Win XP.

Second and third users logged in as themselves on the exact same win XP workstation.

Cleared the browsers cache, had the user reboot and only open the web browser (has 2 GB of RAM) and it still did not work. The user tried using Firefox, and it doesn't work with Firefox either. However, using Firefix with the IE Tab addon, it does work using Firefox if switched to an IE tab within Firefox.

Also had the user log in at another computer and the edit feature worked as it should.

is this cc-std or cc-pro ? If pro, try view local files and see if you can get the settings, are you using remote setup ? I am guessing that there is a share that users 2 & 3 have access to but user 1 does not.

clear the 2 fields in Remote setup and try again.

The user is using ccstd. We do not have remote set up. The file associations are set up correctly. I went to the users computer and had he go to the /iw-cc/localfilemgrsetup page just to be sure.

What directory is it trying to copy to ? Does the user have write access to that ? It should be something like c:\iwtemp

Can you try remote setup and see if it works ?

What rev of Java is on the PC ?

Eme - It seems to be the user's IE Settings for the JVM to be used. Please ensure that the users IE Settings for the JVM point to a supported one or to the one which is being used by the second and third users.

Selection of JVM can be done in the IE Settings, Advance Tab.

Sorry I was not clearer when I mentioned that I had the other users log in. The user with the problem never logged off of his machine, just out of ts. The other two users logged in to ts as themselves (they did not log in anywhere else or change any settings) and everything worked.

This morning (eastern time) I went back to the problem machine and rechecked the Java settings. Long story short the machine was on Java 1.4 but IE was set to Java 1.5 in IE settings, Advanced tab, under Java (Sun) un-checked Use JRE 1.5.0_06 for and under Microsoft JVM I checked Java Console enabled and Java logging enabled.

This fixed the problem.
