Media Bin architecture

Dear All,

If you have a large backing store (over 200GB) and a large amount of images(50GB) stored in Media bin. Is it possible/better to store the images outside the backing store when you preview content? My idea is that the web server would be configured to look for the images outside TeamSite. This way the images do not bog down the backing store.

Any ideas or experience on this matter?

I am confused are you taking about TeamSite backing store or MediaBin Store.

If its Teamsite, then yes it is possible to fetch the images from media bin and store it in a file system other than the backing store of teamsite and still you can make the preview work.

My current client has such a implementation and its working fine. You have to handle your Ecm Connector configurations and Virtualization settings

I'm looking for a seamless integration where a user selects an image in a DCT. When they hit preview the image is automatically extracted, to a folder outside the TeamSite repository. It just seems that the DCT import tag can only load the image into the WORKAREA, or am I missing something?
