LiveSite newbie questions

Howdy,

We're running TS 6.7.1 P3 and OD 6.1.1 P2 on Windows 2003 EE SP2.

The installation manual for LiveSite 3.0 SP1 has a pre-configuration step for OpenDeploy, to this effect:

Why is that? Doesn't SitePublisher perform its own database transactions? The installation does prompt for the location of the SQL JDBC driver.

Incidentally, I'm new to Web Services too. Why does SitePublisher/LiveSite need OpenDeploy's configuration to have ?

Yes, SP maintains a development and production database for various reasons, including website user profiles, to be used as a datasource to support LS components etc...

Why does SitePublisher/LiveSite need OpenDeploy's configuration to have ?

SP/LS uses web services to talk to OD
