Visual Format issue in TS6.7.1 for chinese characters

I have a stange issue in my VF. My env is Solaris 10, TS6.7.1. We have a plan to go for SP1, but due to some major tracks we have postponed till end of April. In the meantime we have serious issue with Visual Format configured in out DCTs.
The issue is with non-english character. Usually content team uses the HTML code to embed in DCT text area. If the content is english charaters, then it works fine. If the content is Chinese, I am able to have a preview of the content without any issue. Unfortunately if I do view source in my VF editor, I get all non-english characters as question mark.

But this issues doesn't happen with a machine which has chinese language as Operating system. I want to understand why this issue happens to me and is there any config changes that I need to do from my machine side or from TS server side??

Please shed light on this, I hope our Devnet community would have faced this issue.

did you look at the UTF-8 and other encoding settings for teamsite and the DCT? there is some stuff in the manual on encoding and multi-lingual.

I am using 6.7.1 (not SP1 in the situation I am referring to) and dont have any issues with chinese (or any other non-english) characters on US OS systems. I am however using TinyMCE in this case (not for this reason, just saying I know it works with tinyMCE). I am also on Solaris 10.

Most likely the 'unicode' attribute in the VFE's config.xml it "true". With VFE version 4 or older, the 'unicode' attribute needs to be "false" unless the operating system default language matches the language of the content. With VFE version 5.1, which comes with the newer version of TeamSite, this is no longer a limitation.
The 'unicode' attribute of the feature in the configuration XML data (e.g., config.xml) specifies whether the view source window (View As HTML) attempts to display Unicode characters or whether they are converted to character references (e.g., 㴳).

[/indent]VERY IMPORTANT: The view source window is only able to display characters that match the system language of the operating system. That is, to display Japanese characters in source, the operating system must be Japanese Windows or Windows whose default system language is set to Japanese.
