Web CMS (TeamSite)
Mapping roles and responsibilities
baxxy
Hi There,
I wonder if you can help me.
We are about to install teamsite for our global web platform and trying to clarify the roles and responsilibities within the organisation in terms of creating and maintaining content going forward.
Below is a list of job functions currently involved in creating the content in it's current iteration.
Web Designers - front end code, HTML, CSS Photoshop etc
Developers - back-end code - JSP, Perl etc
System Admin - Hardware set-up, Database Admin, SVN
Technical Authors of content - No knowledge of HTML
Marketeers - No knowledge of HTML
Business Analysis - Process Flow
Translators - No knowledge of HTML
As we move over to Teamsite, we would like to map these roles to the new paradigm of the CMS.
Document Content Templates - Basic / Advanced
Document Content Records
Configuration files - Basic / Advanced
Presentation Templates - Basic / Advanced
Workflow - Basic / Advanced
Content migration from old platform
Branches
Metatagger admin
Mediabin admin
Deployment
Implementation of Trados ( Memory translation )
Authors
Editors
Admin
Master
Some of the areas are obvious in specialism, and i am sure i have omitted some components of Teamsite, but i would appreciate your thoughts in terms of who should own each section, or where there is genuine cross over between the Business and Developers.
Many thanks in advance

Before anyone comes out with a Idea or solution for your query. You should fist share your Model as how you would categorize. For this kind of work, people are paid a whole lot of money to do it. These people are called
Interwoven Architects/Administrators.
Lets hear how are you doing your Job as an Architect.
Thanks

Thanks for your input Lilleywhite.
However, i think you have misunderstood my post, or perhaps i was unclear.
I am not an Interwoven Architect, nor do i intend to be... i am one of the front end designers
I would just like to know where my role is expected to begin and end and at what point do development take over the bulk of the work!
Our business model is nothing strange or new so i'm sure the experienced guys out there would be able to clarify who is best suited for which task in implementing teamsite.
My personal thoughts would be the front end guys work on the presentation templates, simple data capture templates as well as simple adhoc work flows, wheras the developers would concentrate on the more advanced workflows, templated design etc.
So if anyone wants to help out with some clarity then that would be greatly apprecaited
Thanks

Based on what you provided - a guess would be:
However all of the above would need to be verified within the organization(s) involved - there's not necessarilly one "right" answer.

As adam said it is hard to put roles accordingly with out knowing the company. I was a TeamSite admin in one job and i did the work of a developer totally, never dealt with a configuration file.
Since you are Front end guy ,as adam said you would be any or all of these Web-Designer/Developer/Syst-Admin.
Thanks
