DCR name inside an Inline Call

Hi all ,

How should I get the data type and dcr name inside an Inline call ?

I am using an inline call inside the dct .

I want to return specific values
according to the data type and dcr name

I am not using WF’s or CGI’s

How should I achieve this ?

- IW_DCT Environment variable contains the file system path to the datacapture.cfg, you can extract Category/Type from there.

- You can not get related DCR information, not from the inline code itself. TST Engine uses "inlines" to build Data Capture template,
before it is applied to any particular file, DCR or MDCR regardless. DCRs may not even exist at a time (NewForm and related CLTs).

Check TeamSite® Forms Publisher Developer’s Guide, Chapter "The <inline> Subelement" for details.

Inline call means you want it within DCR itself. Data type surley you can get (go through Forms Publisher Guide as suggested above) but before saving your DCR how come you are expecting to get DCR name. I mean generally you will call this Inline script before saving your DCR.. rT? Correct me if my understanding is wrong.

There seem to be a terminological mix-up here. iwTech is talking about <inline> Sub-Tag of certain DCT instances.
That component is executed by TST Engine upon DCT parsing, before applying it to any DCR, existing or brand new.
User can not control when it's executed, environment information is limited.

You are (probably) talking about Inline Callout(s). This animal is configured to run on some Actions/Events from the
rendered DCR/MDCR Form. It basically gives a Developer much better control of what is happening when and how, at least
within FormAPI Event Model (not yet MDC Form though)

Let me explain more of the requirement

There are two items in the dct (dcrName & prSubTitile ) ( prSubTitle is used by

different .php applications , which is fetched from the MS SQL Databse)

When the user generate or preview the dcr , the two values will insert in to the
pr_table using Perl DBI (this logic is implemented and working.)

When the user edits an existing dcr , the prSubTitle values should display

according to the dcrName .My inline call will return the correct values ,

only if I can get the dcrName inside the inline call , ( dcrName is set as the

primary key for the pr_table ) . The SQL query can display the

value for prSubTitile with respect to dcrName

How I can achieve this ? or any other Logics

I think you need to do this via FormAPI with a callServer script that gets invoked when the form has finished loading (e.g.: within init()) so that you can retrieve and set whatever field values you want.

As has already been pointed out - inline scripts are processed before any data information about the potentially pre-existing DCR is known - so you cannot get the DCR name from there.
