Calling a JS function in datacapture.cfg from ipl

Hi,
I have to pass argument from ipl to the JS function in dct. Currently i am doing it in body onload..

"body onload="parent.getScriptFrame().functionname(argument)""

but I need to know if there is any other way of calling it.
This is because I want to call the same ipl for each replicant in a container, What happens is the ipl gets called for each replicant, but the js function gets called only for the last replicant. I think its because I am using body onload and it happens only once. Can we call the function in some other way so that I can call the js function as many times as the ipl is calledd?

callSerer works by sending asynchronous http request from the single Data Capture Form hidden frame.
Subsequent callServer requests override the current one, that's why you've got only the last JS executed.

To fix that you would have to play with 'setTimeout' Function plus perhaps some callback Function(s) to let your FormAPI
JS code *know* that current callServer request has been completed and *Client* can run the next one. In other words
you yourself would have to synchronize numerous IPL Calls

Thanks a lot. I tried calling a timer function on body load,which in turn calls the actual function which I actually want to call. I am facing the same issue again. The js function gets called only for the final time. I am attaching my code for reference. Is what I am doing right?

No. The callServer() method is asynchronous. Among other things, it means that your JS code continues executing immediately
after the call to callServer(). In your 'callLoadIpl' function JS goes to the next command (alert whatever...) instantaneously
- well before your Perl CGI gets executed (probably before it's started).

You'd have to synchronize IPL Calls within FormAPI with the help of IPL-generated JS calls.
There are various ways to do it. For example, set "callInProgress" flag right after callServer and in your loop use setTimeout
JS function to check it every oh say, one-tenth of a second. If it's true, wait another 0.1 sec, etc. If it's false, execute
callServer one more time and start the process anew.

From IPL-generated JS you would have to re-set 'callInProgress' to false upon completion, either directly or by invoking dedicated 'callback' function.

Makes sense?

re-synchronize sequential callServer executions. See if you can leverage it, post your code after due diligence
debugging efforts if you need help
