How to pickup the photo and abstract from the selected item

Hello

I have a DCT and the requirement is when a user select a html /DCR in the browse field, system should automatically pick the photo and abstract out of that.

Can someone guide me how to do that. I think, one way is writting a callout. but i want to know what is the best and easy way to do that.

i need guidence from all fellow devnet experts.

I have removed the "<" from the above code because it was not working if i add the code with starting "<".

Now i want, when a user select any dcr / html in this item, System should pick the image / photo and the abstract content of that. (e.g if the html has a picture and content. In case of DCR, we can give any 2 fields for the image and the content)

Instead of [ code ] use [ html ]... you'll not have to remove "<"..

OK, generally when you pick the HTML or DCR by browse it picks everything associated with it. I would like to understand as how you want to use it. I mean where you want to use this HTML / DCR which you are getting from browse.

If one selects an HTML file - there may be any number of image files referenced within (0-N); and, generally speaking, there may be 0-1 abstracts available (I'm assuming document abstract not something tied to each individual image - yes?)

If one selects a DCR, you would need to understand the structure of the DCR (it's DCT) to know where to look for image(s) and abstract(s) -- easier with well-designed "xml" style DCRs -- and you still may have multiple such instances (depends on the files available for selecting and the design behind them).

In either case you need to parse the contents of the file - either HTML or XML in order to extract what you're looking for. If you're running this process as a cgi-callout - then you write the code there. If you're running this process through FormAPI - then you need to write a callServer() script and do the processing through there.

Then you have to figure out what you want to do with the extracted information - for that, I'm presuming FormAPI code in either case.

There's no such function in FormAPI but you can use callserver. Parse another DCR and get the value as you want.
