customize the Error message in DCT

Hello

Please see the attached snapshot of the DCT.

I want to customize the bottom error box given in this. Can someone tell me, where we can add the new condition / validation to add for similar conditions. I checked the form API of this DCT but thats not there.

You want to add some content to the error message already coming or you want to show your own message. In case you are looking for second option you can use Javascript to show your own Alert (validation).

The feature you're looking for is FormAPI's IWDatacapture.displayMessage() function.
To use it - you would have to perform your own validation so that you can capture the information that you want to display.

In my department we fairly quickly got away from using the template's own validation (ie required = true/false) and used FormAPI to create some custom validation.

That way were were able to change the validation dependent on user's selections (eg if an image was selected, then the alt text is made mandatory).

For us, an alert box with an error message in it was the best solution, plus of course setting the affected fields to invalid. We then set the default bottom error message to a generic phrase, which users can largely ignore.
