enable/disable a cgi-callout button on a dct

Hi guys,
Has anybody tried to enable/disable a cgi-callout button on a dct ? I am trying to use form api however there is no effect. Could somebody suggest which is the proper function i can use?

In the past, and probably in the current version, you would need to wrap the callout within a container and then use FormAPI to set the visibility of the container.

To my knowledge, you can't remove the callout button, or disable it directly, but you can come close:

We've done this for a callout on a field that was set to readonly after the first save. So the callout was active for as long as the field is writable, and disabled after/

Set an onCallout event handler on the button, have the handler verify some condition, and if OK, only then open the CGI. If not OK, alert the user of why CGI was not opened.
