cusomised alert messages

Hello friends,

I have written some formAPI codes for showing a few alert messages.But requirement is such that the messages should be displayed exactly the same way TeamSite displays an alert message(say a rerquired field has not been filled in, so a prompt will be shown in red at the bottom).Now, how do I show messages for my alert in the same way but with the text customized?

1. IWDataCapture.displayMessage()
2. item.setValid = false
3. setHighlightMode = true

First would display the customised message at the end of the screen within the DCT, second will make the incorrect item as invalid and third would mke the item and form as hightlighted.
