Detecting Changed Fields in a DCR

Hi all,

Do we have any standard practice for detecting changed fields in a DCR? What we are thinking of is to have a check box on the field and check\ uncheck using formapi, letting the PT know that it is a changed field..

Any other way to do ?

There is nothing called as standard practice on this. Usually, it is based on the requirements and the outcome required.

Could you please elaborate more on your requirements... as why you need to do this. May be there would be any other way to acheive as per your requirements?

Thanks for your replies. Basically, I want to find out as compared to previous version in Staging. The other way I can do is compare to Staging however I would like to know if we can do this from within the DCR itself. Maybe some Perl Module provided by IWOV or some other way.

There is nothing out of the box in TS to do this sort of "per item" comparison.

You would have to parse/compare DCR versions yourself, TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRparser and TeamSite: Smiley Very Happy

CRnode may help.
if I were you I would try to re-evaluate design that requires this sort of processing

You have to check out different options as how you can perform better as per your requirements. However, if you want some suggestions from anyone over here... please do elaborate your requirements.

I am just nodding my head to an optimised solution. However here is what I want to do.

Basically, the fields I want to test against staging are the Upload File fields. Now, we are going to have 100 + files attached to each DCR (i.e. just the file references and not the files themselves) and updates then made to this DCR.

As discussed in my other post today, I do not want to have 100 files attached to workflow and deployed to Production each time there is a small edit to a DCR.
