Preview Error

Hi

I recently installed Teamsite 6.5 and then SP2 on a windows 2003 Enterprise server. The problem I am having is that I am not able to do a preview. When I click on a datacapture.cfg file or a .tpl file or any other file, It tells me page not found and gives a 400 error. I have the web preview group and tsimp_domain user added to that group. I also added the iusr_domain user to it too. I aslo modified the tspostreboot ipl and executed it to configure the IIS. When clicking on the workarea in standard, I get the same error, however when I click on the browse link, I can browse through the files. When I go to http://localhost:81/iw-mount I can see the directory structure.

datacapture.cfg and tpls are not meant for preview. Did you try previewing any asps, jsps at your end. Html should render as it is. If you are not able to preview even the htmls, check your permissions on the workarea you are trying to preview files in

As I mentioned, it is not only the tpl and cfg files that I can not preview, In CC standard, even if I click on the workarea name in the workarea section on the left, it does the same.

I dont agree with you that I can not preview tpls and cfg files. I know we can do it and I have done that before at many places Smiley Happy

Any other suggestions?

I feel, you are having permissions problem on the workarea..
Is this happening for all users or just one user?

turn off friendly HTTP error messages in IE. To do this go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced. Uncheck show friendly HTTP error messages. Once you have done this you should get a more detailed message which will point you to the real problem.

and yes the issue happens with other users also. I will try what you said to do and will get back on that, but dont think that will be helpful in this case.

Is this on a real TS server (PROD or DEV) or on a development laptop?
You seem to be using 'localhost' (127.0.0.1) for the definition of the TS server in your iw.cfg file - perhaps you should try changing it to refer to the actual hostname / IP address of the TS server instead of the loopback address?

Its on a Development Box and it is a development license. I even tried using the servername.domain in iw.cfg for the following, but it did not work.

The question here is not wheather I can preview tpls or cfgs. The question here is that I am not able to preview. You are missing the main point. Attached is what I am talking about. When I click on the Admin: Content link in My Workareas in CCstd, it gives me 400 error. I am not talking about about previewing tpl or cfg specifically.

By the way my friendly messages were turned on already before you told me, so that really did not help.

Any useful suggestions?

Thanks ISCBorisB for that link. I did what they suggested. Also I updated iw.cfg to have the localhost for servlet_host and iwproxy_host and the server.domain for customer_webserver_host and host. I am not getting the 404/400 error anymore.

However, when I click on the Workarea in CCstd, It shows me like the directory tree. I expect it to show the way similar to when I click on browse link next to it. Any thoughts?

Moonkhanna, I was able to also avoid the 400 error on clicking on .tpl and .cfg files by going to IIS, right click properties on default websites and then set mimetypes for .cfg and .tpl extension files in HTTP Headers tab. Now it shows me a webpage with a download link but no 400 error. But I am looking to see somthing else. I expect it to show what you see in the attached screenshot. I get this when I do a view difference on a tpl file. I have seen the same thing happen when I click on a .tpl file. Also, I am able to preview the html files properly.

Finally found a support article on the current issue here. I already have the ISAPI Plug-ins set up in IIS but that did not help.

One other solution I found in one other post on the same issue in 2006 was to customize UI to have the workarea link behave like browse. Some also say that is a bug number 50293 that has been there since 6.0. I dont think that makes much sense to do also as we are just replicating the browse behaviour.

Any one have any other suggestions?

Hi Moonkhanna,

I figured out how you can do preview of datacapture.cfg and tpl files or as a matter of fact any type of file in WIN2k3. All you have to do is to put this in the iw.cfg

[iwproxy_smartcontextedit_allowed]
_regex=[^?]+\.tpl(\?.*)$=no
_default=yes

You can put multiple regex in the iw.cfg based upon how many you want. Smiley Happy

I am still looking for the answer for the other problem though. The one where when I click on the workarea, I see the direcory structure.
