Teamsite 6.7.1 Upgrade Questions

Hi,

We are upgrading teamsite 6.1 to 6.7.1 sp1 on windows 2003. We are installing teamsite 6.7.1. on new server.

We are going to perform following steps, suggestions are welcome:

a) Submit all workareas to staging.
b) Copy/Paste content store from teamsite 6.1 to 6.7 server.
c) Run iwmigrate on content store.
d) Run iwidmap.
e) Run iwusermigrate.
f) Run iwaccessmigrate

I have following questions:

1) How long iwmigrate process will take to migrate content store of 110GB?

2) I wanted to know about the best practice regarding migration of content store i.e. how many editions should we migrate all or latest two?

3) Does copying content store will get all of the editions or there is some other way to deal with editions? Will migration of all editions affect iwmigrate performance and time?

4) To run iwusermigrate do we need to copy existing teamsite 6.1 uid files to teamsite 6.7.1 iw-home\conf\roles directory?

5) Any known pitfalls to watch/taken care of.

Also please suggest do and don’t/ best practice regarding migration.

You should read the documentation and KB articles available on the Support site - which would answer most of your questions.

I made quite a few migration...

1. can't say for sure...you should make a test yourself if possible to know exactly hoew much time it will take
2. normally the lastest should be ok,but it depends of your needs.Maybe users want the old editions to rollback or keep the versions of their changes.This is more a user need.Technically one is enough
3. it will copy everything...the more you copy,the more time it takes to process afterwards...

5. beware of the local users vs domains one.You need to recreate local users before.remember that after a iwidmap you must restart TS for the change to take effect.
You can always re-run the whole process of users migration if you make a mistake,you should check the knowledge base.

since it's a new server don't forget all the config files templates,workflows etc...

Actually - you only need to deactivate and reactive the store:

iwstoreadm -d store-name
iwstoreadm -a store-name

(where store-name is like "default")
