Search DCR feature not working (TS 6.5 sp2 Patch 1676, Solaris 9)

I just filed the following with support. Maybe someone here has experience with this

We are on TS 6.5 sp2 + PatchID 1767 (Solaris 9).

Based on these instructions

I'm trying to activate the search in DCR, with the following application_custom.xml

but after a make_toolkit the DCR edit doesn't have DCR search.
(even though I see this copied into iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/WEB-INF/conf/customer/application_custom.xml)

I've also tried this instead (as in uicg.670.cg.pdf), no luck

maybe related, on http://devnet.interwoven.com/forums_vb/showthread.php?t=20928&forumid=13 someone is complaining that in TS 6.7.1 (where the default is to enable the DCR search), it is impossible to disable the feature with this applications param.

it seems that the problem was resolved by a full cleaning of the webapp, using the instructions in the UICG doc

1. Stop the TeamSite server by issuing: iwreset -ui stop
2. Delete all folders and files under iw-home/servletd/work/
3. Issue (as a single command):
iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl iw-home/install/install_webapps.ipl -i -f content_center

If that remains true in further testing, I'll close this thread

EDIT: for what it's worth, this info was missing

- the system was installed 2 years ago as TS 6.5 + sp2 + PatchID 1614
- last month, PatchID 1614 was uninstalled, and PatchID 1767 (and LS 221) was installed (following all the install guidelines)

Things are still working, so I guess the problem was indeed fixed by cleaning up the complete content_center webapp

Also, one of the documented ways of writing applications_custom.xml is wrong (uicg.650.cg.pdf, uicg.670.cg.pdf), IMO, because, according to the DTD, there can not be an element (xpath notation)

. You can have

/applications/default-param

/applications/application/param

I repeated this installation on another machine, and I did not re-encounter the same problems with DCR search failing to be enabled.

I'll repeat the circumstances

- the system was installed 2 years ago as TS 6.5 + sp2 + PatchID 1614
- last week, PatchID 1614 was uninstalled, and PatchID 1767 (and LS 221) was installed (following all the install guidelines)

What was different?
1) The first (problematic) system I installed, was using nojsp_precompile, whereas the second was using the default (jsp_precompile).
2) (probably insignificant) on the first system, I was using

but 2nd install used

If anything, I guess that the absence of jsp-precompilation was probably a factor in my problems with DCR search enabling.
