how do you guys do your filelist deployments?

specifically how do you populate the list?

right now i am getting all files modified in the last 3 days on every deployment which isnt idea i suppose.

does anyone have an amazing filelist script they would like to share

I believe the majority of filelist deployment implementations are based on workflow processes - such that the list of files associated with a particular job is placed into a temporary file which is then passed as a parameter to the deployment process to ensure that all (relevant) files gets deployed.

If you're retrieving the list of files to deploy through some other mechanism - then that will dictate how you generate your filelist.

Beyond that - there are a lot of possibilities - all of which depending on the circumstances with which you are trying to deal.

It depends upon the requirements. If you are able to share a bit of your requirements, then getting relevant responses rate would be higher.

my requirements?

i am not using workflow. I am starting my deployment from the onSaveValid event on the DCT, which starts a shell script that does the deployment.

You should use a WF, it will save you a great deal of effort.

Otherwise, build a file with the name of the file to be deployed and use a filelist.

Does it mean, you are trying to deploy the newly created DCR only?

that would be ideal (deploying only the file which was modified), but i dont know how to do that because as i recall, the FormAPI onSaveValid event does not get the filename, only if the save was valid or not.
I had trouble finding an event where i knew the save was succesful that also supplied the filename.

formAPI sucks.

No formapi does what it is designed to do. You are using the wrong tool for the problem.

This is a 5 minute project if you care to learn about the tools you have.

Not really, considering IWOV gives a default WF with deployment, someone who is competent can get it up and running in 5 minutes.

Ofcourse you expect too much. I am at the point where i have trouble finding the right docs / resources to find a better solution then what i currently have.

as far as formAPI sucking, i found a bug in it where you cant use recursion to find nested replicants, so i beg to differ. They should have just stuck with the current DOM model and let me use javascript to set text, get text etc, no need to reinvent the wheel

There is an out of the box workflow, configurable_default_submit in the solutions folder. It has deployment and email notifications built in. You can set it to run when a DCR is saved. Learn to use that and save yourself a great deal of effort.

onSaveValid doesn't need the filename, it just needs to know that the form validated correctly in terms of the internal validation. If you want the name of the DCR you can get that with the IWDCRInfo.getDCRName() function - oh, but you would have probably figured that out if you bothered to read the manual - oh but you can't find the manuals so therefore you blame the product and expect everyone here to feel sorry for you and write code for you for questionable requirements ... not bad if it works - but I've already provided my hint for the day above.

i have no such file in that folder.. do you know if OD 6.5.1 comes with this file?
i inherited this system from someone, so there is a chance that they deleted this file to make my life easier....

No it doesn't. Look into TeamSite, not OD: iwhome/local/config/wft/solutions
Besides, there is no such animal as OD 6.5.1, not yet anyway
