Ad hoc "browsing" of Workspaces?

The "My Matters" file cabinet provides a nice display of Workspaces, including an expandable/collapsible hierarchical display of folders and subfolders per matter. Is there a way to call up such a display for a single client/matter Workspace on an ad hoc basis? That is, can I perform a search, or otherwise specify a client/matter number combination, and have Outlook or WorkSite display a window (or use part of Outlook's window) to display the specified Workspace, and allow me to expand the Workspace to its folders, and allow me to expand/collapse selected ones of the folders to their subfolders, the way I can in My Matters, as shown in the screenshot? I want to be able to quickly show someone the organization of subfolders in the Workspace, even though the Workspace is not in My Matters. I don’t want to have to add the Workspace to My Matters, just to be able to show the organization, and then have to delete the Workspace from My Matters.

i don't think there's a facility to do quite what you want

Have you thought about displaying the contents of the WorkSite tree using the IManBrowseCmd? You could then initialise the browser dialog to whatever workspace you need, so that at least the user can see straight away the structure and contents of that workspace.

if you really need to limit the display to only that workspace, then I guess you'd need to render the contents of it into your own custom dialog. This would be a fair amount of effort considering all the various folder types/tabs and document types that could appear within a workspace

8.2 (I think) introduced a 'Search for Workspace' concept that does pretty much what you want.

You perform the search, get a list of matching workspaces, and then you get the option to either add the workspace to My Favorites or My Matters, or just to Open it, in which case it gets added to the Matter Worklist.
