workflow modeler - assign task to specific user mid workflow?

our consultants tell us that with the new workflow modeller it is possible to only assign a task to a specific user on workflow instantiation, not mid workflow.

i.e., we want a reviewer to be able to select a specific person mid workflow (from a dropdown, picklist, etc) to assign for a secondary review. we are being told that with the workflow modeller this can only be assigned to a group, not a specific person. any help/advice would be appreciate, cheers

I'm only guessing here (don't have an environment to use for verification) - but if you're providing a list to choose from within a cgitask script, the same script should be able to use the tried-and-true TeamSite::WFtask (or CSSDK equivalent) code for setting the owner of another task within the workflow process. What you would need to do though, regardless of whether this is WFT or WFM, is create an initial owner assignment to the task so that it will "compile".

I'd be (unpleasantly) surprised if the pre-existing code for changing the owner of a task no longer works in WFM-originated jobs.
