visual format external editor

By using the visual format external editor in the data capture template we are able to retrieve images from the same branch. Is there any other way in which we can format the visual format external editor so that we can retrieve images from another branch.

I believe that is not possible. Atleast, when I tried it I could not get it to work. Not sure if it was me who was messing it up or is it becoz that is not supported. Would anyone plese else help us out here?

Article 44916 describes how this can be done. If we add the regex to the iw.cfg file can we browse to another branch while using visual external editor. It will also be useful if the regex to go to another branch can be provided.
