OD compression

Anyone know what type of compression OD uses?
Anyone know how or where I can get stats on compression ratio of a deployment or file? Like in the OD log or OD reciever log? Is there such a thing.

PS It would be a great feature to leave the files compressed once downloaded if compression is turned on especailly for reverse log deployments.
