problem with datadeploy (iwdd.ipl)

avdhut

I am trying to use stand-alone datadeploy to push the contents from workarea to the oracle database.
I'm using filelist to deploy only the selected dcr.
When I run the iwdd.ipl, it populates only the dcr_path in the database and null in all the other columns.

On the console it shows all null values getting passed to the prepared statement except DCR_Path

any help is appreciated.
config file is attached...

what version of DataDeploy? Is it Windows or Solaris?

Check if you specfied the source values correctly. Are you using wide table or UDS? It would help to see the config file and the log output.

avdhut

version is 5..5.1
running on solaris...
I've already attached the cfg file, command to run it and the entry in filelist..
i'm attaching the output result....

thanx.

plazm

I had the same problem with DD 5.5.2 The problem was fixed by supplying forward slashes in file paths. If your file paths contain back slashes, iwdd.ipl does not read extended attributes properly.

A.

avdhut

i'm using solaris and all my paths have forward slashes..
and still there is problem Smiley Sad

The filelist entry is
templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data/lnk2 New

The command to invoke dd is...
/webapps/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /webapps/iw-home/datadeploy/bin/iwdd.ipl cfg=/webapps/iwmnt/EBU/main/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa/templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/link_dd.cfg deployment=submitlist mybasearea=/webapps/iwmnt/EBU/main/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa mysubmitlist=/usr/users/cn561/filelist myDBUrl=cidcsebu05.cidc.cummins.com:1521:crtauth myDBUser=crtauth myDBPassword=crtauth > ddres.txt 2>err.txt

Migrateduser

looks like your filelist contains an extra "New" :

templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data/lnk2 New

When you are running standalone deployment with filelist, each line in the filelist should just have the relative path of the file, relative to the area you specified.

Remove the "New" from the filelist and re-run.

Migrateduser

and also remove the "format" attribute from the <source>

avdhut

thanks,
my new filelist entry is
templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data/lnk2

and the <source> tag is
<source>

<teamsite-templating-records
options = "full"
area = "$mybasearea"
>
<path filelist = "$mysubmitlist"
visit-directory = "deep"
delete-after-use= "yes" />
</teamsite-templating-records>
</source>

Still the same problem....
Parameter Index: 1, Value: (null)
Column: Publish_Date, field: Publish Date, Index: 1,null
Parameter Index: 2, Value: (null)
...

where these values are present in the dcr file...

any help???

how did you create the DataDeploy config file? Check if value-from-field attribute values are correct. In the latest run what's the value of 'state' field value (this you can find from the TUPLE={} line printed in the log output). If it's set to "NotPresent" check if "area" and "path" values are correct. Also check if an EA value TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type has been set on the file you are trying to deploy. You can do this check by running iwextattr CLT. Always attach the logfile when you have problems. Can you post your DCR file as well?

avdhut

the _dd config file is created manually. I don't have access to run the graphical interface.
value-from-field are correct.
state field value is
TUPLE={state=NotPresent, path=templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data/lnk2}

iwextattr CLT output is
$ iwextattr /EBU/main/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa/t
emplatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data/lnk2
circuit_managedcontent/linkTeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type=$
$
$

EA value from file properties is
TeamSite Extended Attributes:
Attribute Value
TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type circuit_managedcontent/link

area is given full path from root of the system
mybasearea=/webapps/iwmnt/EBU/main/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa

filelist path is relative to the workarea
templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data/lnk2

output log is already attached...pls check the attachment at 09/09/02 06:13 AM (third post)

dcr file is attached with this..

area value should be the vpath of the area and not the filesystem path of the area. It should be specified in the form:

/<store_name>/<branch>....

for example:

/default/main/branch1/WORKAREA/workarea1

I couldn't view the latest attachment (the DCR file) as IE is looking for the DTD. Can you send me the following through private email:

1. config file
2. DCT (or the DTD if custom DCR)
3. DCR you are trying to deploy

avdhut

i've changed the mybasearea to /EBU/main/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa.
Here we do not have /default/main. But we have EBU directly inside the iwmnt...
Now it is giving different error.
The error is

You should know the vpath of the workarea. TeamSite stores can be mounted anywhere, so that may be wrong. You should know in which store your workarea is located and the branch structure under the store.

The area value you specify should be of the form:

/<store_name>/branch/sub-branch/..../WORKAREA/<workarea_name>

I copied the DCR you had sent to my machine under the following area:

/store2/main/devnetcase/WORKAREA/wa1

in the following sub-directory:

templatedata/category/type/data/

I set the TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type EA on the DCR I copied to the above directory.

Then ran the deployment and I could see just one problem: column Hot_Topic is a numeric column and the value for the field mapped to this column in the DCR is 'Y' which is invalid number.

I suspect that the area value you specify is not right.

Check if the filelist exists. Because you have set delete-after-use to "yes" in the config file, the filelist will be deleted after the deployment is executed, irrespective of its outcome.

Here is the log snippet:

### IWDataDeploy FAILED ###

Edited by ArmChairExpert on 09/09/02 03:10 PM (server time).

avdhut

this is great. that really cuts down the problem to either vpath area-path problem or the TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type setting problem
I have modified the base area to following
/EBU/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa
removed main. Previously it was /EBU/main/Marketing...
where EBU store resides in the iwmnt and my branch is Marketing. Path seems to be correct now. then i tried datadeploy again.
It still gives me the same error:
Parameter Index: 1, Value: (null)
Column: Publish_Date, field: Publish Date, Index: 1,null

is it th problem with 5.5.1 or installation problem at our end?

Migrateduser

are you trying to use DD521 with TS551? That isn't supported. You must be using DD551 with TS551.

I made a typo in my previous post. For every store, there will be a main branch. That must be included in the vpath, like in

/store2/main/mybranch1/....../WORKAREA/wa1

Hi,
Here is the directory listing and present working directory of the link data type.

$ ls
lnk2 lnk3
$
$ pwd
/webapps/iwmnt/EBU/main/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa
/templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data
$
$

My basearea i am using is
mybasearea=/EBU/Marketing/circuit.com/Ver2-0/Content/WORKAREA/Content_wa

and filelist entry is
templatedata/circuit_managedcontent/link/data/lnk2

Can you please check this and let me know what may have gone wrong.

TeamSite Extended Attributes:
Attribute Value
TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type circuit_managedcontent/link

So looking at this information do you think anything is wrong.

avdhut

yes

is there any quick fix other than getting into installation of DD5.5.x
