OK, so I am looking to change my WF if someone checks a dir, I want to add all the modified files underneath. Easy enough, run iwlistmod, ignore locked(by other people) files and private files.

Also, if a folder is listed in listmod, then find any files underneath it.

Otherwise the deployments (via filelist) will be incorrect.

I found some code from Adam in a post a couple years ago:

If I have to guess...

Sample contains Hash(es) in distinctly List Context. So, {process} may be a euphemism for some Hash keys assignment.
Just for the argument sake, let's assume that "qx(iwlistlocks $vpath)" returns (Path0, Path1). In this case:

my %LOCKED = qx(iwlistlocks $vpath);
# Hash is $LOCKED{Path0} eq 'Path1', perhaps not what he wants

#Alternatively,

my $i = 0;
my %LOCKED = map{chomp $_; ($i++, $_)} qx(iwlistlocks $vpath);
# Hash becomes
# $LOCKED{0} eq 'Path0'
# $LOCKED{1} eq 'Path1' - a bit better...

All this is pure speculation though.

Yea, I suspect you are correct there. I tried the code he posted, & it crashed and burned. I was wondering if there was some cool function in perl that I did not know about.

I'll assume that was my code (as there are other Adam's in the forums) - when the heck was it originally posted? (my guess - about 4-6 years ago)

For iwlistlocks - I imagine it might have been something like this:

    chomp;
    my @x = split(/\t/, $_);

} qx($iwhome/bin/iwlistlocks $vpath);

providing you with a hash like:

{
    '/some/dir/file' => 1,

    '/file' => 1,
    ...
}

The private stuff is more interesting because I cannot find any reference to an iwlistpriv CLT (though it would be nice to have one) - The only thing I can think of is to recurse through the directories and run iwprv -g on each file (horrible performance) and do something similar to the above for filling in the hash. It would probably be better to turn the code into something like:

This is un-verified code - but I think it will work - the overall idea being that you want a list of modified files which are neither locked or marked private -- you might need to enhance the code for processing iwlistlocks to also check whether

$x[4]

and/or

$x[5]

is equal to the current userid, so as to set those to 0 rather than 1 so that they can still be considered as valid modified files for the current user.

If you get this fully working - please post the code ;-)

This will be a good tech article to write. So I plan to.

In my situation, the only private files I need to worry about are zz_tst (and we have a lot of them) so I am going to regex out those. I do not relish the idea of running iwprv on each file as this could be run at the beginning of a workflow, thus making the instantiation painfully long.

Yeah - well those are trivial to ignore via a simple regex / grep filter - you could probably eliminate some other standard "private" files like:

Whether or not to wait until the above foreach loop - or filter them out earlier is a design decision based on where it makes the most sense to do so - but since iwlistlocks and iwlistmod take a vpath and give results in one fell swoop - it's really a case of avoiding the overhead of calling iwprv as much as possible.

Another alternative to the above is to delete the key from the MOIDIFIED hash instead of setting the value to 0 - it probably depends on how the hash is going to be used elsewhere in the code.

OK so I have a working routine, this goes in the WFT Perl section, I have a WP written up, but I am certain that there are some improvements that I can make. I have a couple of foreach where I do a regex, I assume I can make it run faster if I move these to a map

I am certainly open to any improvements. I will send this to IWOV next week.

in this thread, you're talking about filtering private files from the list returned by iwlistmod. But iwlistmod is NOT returning private files (even if they are modified). iwlistlocks on the other hand, does return private files. I just tested on TS 6.5 sp2 Solaris to be sure.

Anyway, bottom line: you don't need to filter the output of iwlistmod for private files.

Hmm - interesting - I wonder if this changed after 5.5.2 (I don't have a 5.5.2 system to test on, but I'm pretty sure that was the platform on which the original code was written).
