Preview error | Reason: Connection refused.

I am trying to retart the TS server, but the preview is showing up the following error -
Connection Failed
iwproxy was unable to open a connection to: localhost:81
Reason: Connection refused.

I have checked up the ‘iw.cfg’ file and the servlet port in use is 8080. Following are the entries from the iw.cfg file-
servlet_host=localhost
servlet_port=8080
iwproxy_port=1080
customer_webserver_port=81

No customer web server is in use but we have the oracle set up done on the same server.

Any pointers/help? This is real urgent!!

This means your webserver is not running. Plz check the status of webserver process(iwwebd). If you are on Solaris Check netstat -an | grep 81.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked up and i understand that the webserver is not running. The command u gave the following result-

bash-2.05# netstat -an | grep 81
*.32781 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
*.32810 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
*.32811 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN
*.32813 *.* 0 0 49152 0 BOUND
*.8081 *.* 0 0 49152 0 LISTEN

What do i do to fix this up?

You need to start the webserver.

After restarting you should get something like this:

Server#netstat -an | grep 81
*.81 *.* 0 0 65535 0 LISTEN

There is a script called apachectl that iwll stop/start it.

However there may be multiple instances of apache on your server, when you installed TS, what instance (directory) did you specify ? The script will be under there.

There should also be some scripts, in /etc/init.d that will autostart apache, I would talk to you system admin about that.

Hi jyoti35,

this type of question is very "teamsite beginner" and seems to indicate that you never ever have followed any teamsite course. You better pick one up somewhere!

Any way, with "customer_webserver_port=81" you are telling your iw-proxy that it should re-route any preview requests to a webserver on localhost port 81. This webserver is out of the context of teamsite. E.g. you need to set it up yourself, it does not come with the teamsite install. You are free to use any webserver you like: IIS, Apache, Websphere, etc. Or if you want, it can be on any remote server as well. Your choice.

From the error you are receiving it looks like this webserver can not be found (at that server; at that port). First thing to do is check whether it is running. You can do so with the netstat command (Unix only) listed in this thread.
