Retrieve assetid for an asset

Hi,

We are working on TS 6.7.1 and MB 4.6.1 with ECM Connector 2.0. Need to know how to retrieve the assetid for an asset in MB through some API. There is an API getAssetId() but it needs containerID and assetName to be passed. How do I get the containerID for this is another question.

If anyone has any idea..

Depends what part you do know, to say how to get something.

If you have the container path of the item.. you can do a getContainerByPath... and then use that container to get the asset you need.

So the scenario is thus - We moved all our assets to a new server, and migrated all the images. During the migration, more assets were added to the old server and no one kept a track of those assets. Now those assets crop up randomly and prevent the user from completing the workflow process.

The assets have been migrated over manually to the new server, and hence have different GUID's. We wish to run a script on DCR Save, that will iterate through the Image Container in the DCT/DCR and retrieve the correct Asset ID for it, irrespective of the image path.

Any suggestions?

there is 2 ways to do it
- soap. This can be kid of hard coz there is a lack of documentation on this
- or post on the /iw-cc/importmediabin
on the onSave, launch a ipl script that will parse the dcr get the assetID and call mediabin trough either SOAP messages or a post on MyIWServer/iw-cc/importmediabin .

I've deone the xact same thing some time ago. There is documentation on that somewhere...don't remember where.

I am trying through HTTP post in Perl..

I wrote this code,

and it returns me an error,

Alternatively, following SOAP approach, I tried this code to get the root container id of MB respository,

my $service = SOAP::Lite->uri('http://www.mediabin.com/GetRootContainer')
->proxy('http:///MediaBinWebService/MediaBinServer.asmx');

it returns a hash key like SOAP:Lite=HASH(xxxxxx)
But I am not able to retrieve values from this. I tried printing the key value pair also.. but it dint work..

Is it correct or i miss something??
