copy over content

if you want to get new version of a file into your dev server,thereby overwriting the existing file. basically doing a server to server copy yu lose the fact that it is assoc with a dcr or template. how do you fix this?

This *used* to be a configuration setting in iw.cfg (TS 5.5 days)

There is a UI customization, save EAs on import, however that will not work for a regular copy to the filesystem.

You could also let OD do the dirty work and then it can set the EAs automatically.

So if you can use import instead of drag and drop, there is a solution, otherwise you will need to write a trigger to take care of this in the background.

There are 3 approaches.

1 - use OpenDeploy. That is easy, if you are licensed for it.

2 - you could write a script that will traverse the templatedata directory and set files with the proper EAs. That fixes your templates, but not generated content. If you have a good WF, then it should auto generate HTML (or whatever) and apply the EAs as well. Then you could submit everything and you are good to go.

3 - write a copy EA script, traverse WA1, find file with EA, write EA to destination.
