XML Issue

Hi All,

I am trying to incorporate XML file in presenation template. Situation is such that, in DCR, I am giving user a provision to select the a value in drop down which will call an XML values to display on generated page.

Could someone provide their feedback of dooing this correctly?

No exactly... but as mentioned I want to generate XML and then fetching the value in different tpl (parent tpl) for displaying on web page geneated by parent tpl

If I understand your requirement correctly, I do not see any need of XML here. You can put values in TPL as per the name selected in DCR. You can incorporate the same code in your DCT / TPL.

Do you have any specific reason as why you want an XML?

Hi Ambuj,

Requirement is such that, user just want to generate XML file which in result will be updating the site globally, as the XML file is used for creating the navigation.

Also there is CSS style tha is used in XML for which I believe XSL file will come into the picture.

There are 2 options here.

1. create you xml file while generation, (use extension="xml" in your templating.cfg)
2. Along with generated html create an xml file simple using print statements to create a xml file with same name as that of generated html

You can generate an xml on fly using DCR: Smiley Tongue

there are several options, have to decide which one you want to go with.
