VFE integration with mediabin

Is there a way to integrate mediabin with the VFE. Currently we can access the pictures within the teamsite workarea. Since we are managing all the digital assets in the mediabin, i would like to find out if VFE can connect to mediabin and can access the images from the mediabin.

I think you could customize the toolbar to have a button that makes a call to mediabin, but you would have to write the application using the MB web services API.

You could have a feature request be added by creating a support case, but this is not something available OOTB.
