Search Engine Integration - FAST, Autonomy, Verity, Inquira, Lucene ....
System
Folks - I'd like to do a survey of how people are integrating to site search engines (local search - not SEO for Google et al).
The most common approach I'm aware of is:
a) create a "search-proxy" page as part of the submit workflow. The search proxy page omits all the page boilerplate (header, footer, nav, ...) and adds in relevant EA's and their expansions (e.g. alts from MetaTagger taxonomies for assigned categories). Links at the bottom for crawling.
b) deploy the "search-proxy" pages in a parallel directory structure to the primary content
c) use cloaking (UA-based content sourcing) for spider-based indexers or a DNR for bulk-loader based indexers. [Note: if you use cloaking for third party engines like Google, you may find yourself delisted. I'd recommend against using cloaking for non-site-local engines].
Any others? What have people used with different engines? Which technique works best?
