Do you want to catch the return value from the OD deployment log and make someting else happen? for example do you want a workflow to respond to the failure?
I want the deployment to rollback if there is error in the running of the batch file

[What kind of trigger have you applied for your DNR? In case of deployment-level triggers, you can't rollback. In case of task-level triggers you can rollback under few conditions by printing following string to STDOUT from your script.[HTML]\n[/HTML] [Refer to OD admin guide to get detail about those conditions.
In your DNR script, you have to print this particular line to STDOUT.
e.g. if it is a perl script you can write:

Actually I am calling a batch file..and [HTML] print "\n";[/HTML]
I would like to be able to send email notification to our team if a OpenDeploy scripts fails. We have a number of scheduled jobs and at the present time no way of determining the success/failure of the jobs without connecting to the OpenDeploy UI and checking their status.Thanks.Jim
This is very basic stuff. The PD 6.2 manual shows DNR scripts to do this. Try reading the admin manual and implementing what they have.
