Hello Experts

We have following requirement :

In my TPL file, a replicant has to be displayed into 2 sets of column like Left Column and Right Column. But the number of items in left column may not be same as Right Column. The HTML page source generated should be like this:

A,B,C,D,E are instances of same replicant. Please let me know how to accomplish this using perl....

May be you can do this

a) set a limit to the number of rows you want to display, say 3 as per your query.
b) iterate through the replicant can consider setting a limit to the number of rows of information you want, and list the first 3 values in column one and the next 3 in column 2 and so on.

Is there anything in the DCT that assigns the content to appearing in left or right columns - or are you trying to do this programmatically by making sure that the two columns are either the same length or that the left column is longer by [at most] one entry?

If you're doing it purely programmatically, from a Perl perspective, you can do an iwpt_dcr_list() into an array and use the scalar value of the array to determine the number of loops to do for left / right column entries.

If you're doing it based on some other field in the container which holds the content, then you can loop through and put the items into left / right "buckets" which you can then output after finishing processing of the entire list.

Either way it shouldn't be that difficult, you just have to spend a bit more time thinking about what you're trying to do and then do it. If you get further along and are still having issues - you'll need to post more details about the DCT and the PT code you've come up with so far and how the results achieved differ from the results desired.

I am attaching the source code of final html page as well as html page in the jpeg file for review. I want to arrange the replicants as illustarted in the jpeg attachment.

Please let me know how to make changes in the TPL file so as to display like generated page.

DCT uses the replicant item which is getting displayed in the TPL file on the left and right column.

i am not doing this way

I am tring to build up the logic to display as in the attached jpeg image. DIV ids and XHTML stuff I will take care.

now once you get to the point what you said you would be trying then its based on your logic how do you want to show content in left div tag & right div tag.

In brief, iteration helps you to go through container items and its upto you while iterating come up with some condition check based on your requirement to fill in your left & right divs.

Think of the iteration as a loop through an array (which is basically what it is) and consider the following possible logic scenarios:

test to determine whether the output is going into left or right column context.Before just trying to take the above code (which is intentionally generic) - do you understand what the two examples do / how they do it? If so, you should be able to easily apply the code either in Perl form or in PT-XML form to do what you want.

divide your left and right column items into two different sets of left and right replicant. And then iterate over in ur tpl.
