Folder Permissions in Medibin 4.6.1 not working
shivram13
Hello
We have installed Mediabin with LDAP configured in our server. Adding myself as MBPAdmin user group in Enterprise Manager, I can login to web client as Administrator, add folder and assets and set permissions for a particular user 'mbindemo' from LDAP to have 'change' permission to access a particular folder.
But, when I log back as 'mbindemo' user, I still can see having only the list permissions to all folders. I tried with many options as an admin like setting permission even to parent folders, setting permissions with windows client but nothing seems to work.
Is that any problem as this 'mbindemo' user is obtained and logged in from LDAP? Or do I have to give any user group permissions (I mean MBPAdmin, MBPTaskAdmin, MBPCheckedOut) in Enterprise Manager to work?
I looked at the user guide but still cannot find where I am going wrong.
Could any one please suggest a solution?
Thanks

I now found the thing to do. I have to login with 'LDAP' domain instead of our organisation domain. But, still I am puzzled that it can login with either domains.
Is it possible to make this work with our organisation domain too?
Thanks

By default without any configuration changes "Everyone" has "List" access to all the folders in MB. "Everyone" would be whoever has access to your network. It can be different domains. In a way LDAP is considered as another domain for purposes of MB.
So in effect, if you want DCI\user and LDAP\user to be able to see the same folders then you would have to add both users (or preferably groups) to the folders.
Since you might be using MB with TS and ECM Connector I would recommend standardizing LDAP and hide the domain option in your login page to reduce potential confusion to your users logging directly into MB. Only with the LDAP option will you be able to authenticate TS users (using LDAP) to login with their credentials in the ECM Connector.
