Search Engine Optimization best practices with LiveSite

drew1

Hi all,

I'm putting together a list of best practices for implementing SEO with Interwoven LiveSite.

Search Engine Optimization is the practice of making a web site appealing to Google and other search engines, so that a search for certain keywords will show that site near the top of the results list.

I'd really like to hear about how people have used LiveSite to implement SEO, what works, what doesn't, ideas for helpful tools, and suggestions for product improvements.

thanks!
Andrew

Hi Buddha,

I believe you are confusing SEO (search engine optimization) and site search. This thread is intended to discuss techniques for making your site show up higher in the ranking on google, msn, and yahoo search engines.

I believe your question has to do with implementing a site search solution (the search link on your site) using the Google search appliance. Your question is perfectly valid and I'm curious if others have build a site search solution that combines LiveSite and the Google appliance; it seems like this is a good topic for a new thread.

Regards,
Cliff

BTW, the Tech Library is being updated today with a community contribution library for components and sites. One of the submissions from Interwoven is the advanced backpacking site, which includes a Site Search integration with Google's Search API. It's not using the appliance, but to the extent the appliance offers the same sort of REST api, the example should be a helpful starting point.

To see this in action, go to http://www.advancedbackpacking.com and use the search box. This site is not a real e-commerce site, but rather a playground for some experimentation by the engineering team. Sort of a skunk works project that we play with in our "spare time".
