Prompt for new version before checkin
tiberio
Dear friends,
I am attempting to write a script that prompts the user, upon closing the document/MS Office program, to select "overwrite," "new version" or "new document" (much like the Save As... function in Word or Excel). This script would then intercept the automatic check-in of this document and either overwrite, create a new version, or create a new document.
Could I get any help on this? I'd appreciate it a lot.
Blessings,
Tiberio

This would be quite involved but it can be done with some effort.
If this is only for Office Integration, what you could do is setup a sink to the IManageExtensibility Object (imano2k/imanoxp.dll) to catch the DocumentBeforeClose2 Event to disengage from WorkSite's close-then-checkin process. Specifically, you would need to set this IgnoreIManageClose flag to true. You may then invoke an instance of the IMANEXTLib.SaveAsOptionCmd to display the Save As Options dialog to allow the user to save the document as the original, new verison, or new document. Then you would need to take over the save process using various automated command objects from the WorkSite extension libraries, i.e. imanext.dll, imanext2.dll, based on the option user has selected.
This is no easy task. I would ask DevSupport (at
worksite-devsupport@interwoven.com
) for help to get through the workings of it. This of course implies that you must own the WorkSite iToolkit to receive support from DevSupport as they do validate your licensing to the SDK.
